Disabling the "root" account login is pretty standard on linux systems for security reasons. Admin tasks are typically done by by granting administrative privileges to a regular user Sudo allows authorised users to run programs as another user, usually the root user.Well! super-easy. Also very insecure, though that doesn't much matter in my case, since my pi desktop is deep inside my home, and I'm the only one in my family who's interested in it.
Also, of course, all my sensitive work and information are on another, well defended computer. But I tried installing software using my new password, and it didn't work. Still having to search out the /bin item and sudo it.
Why do you think that is very insecure as compared to allowing login to the root account?
