It's important to post what you actually did, not what you think you did.I tried to find a picture with a raspberry pi with l289 and motors. Didn’t see that it was actually an arduino pictured until you pointed it out. Draw a diagram on a napkin, or in a paint program, or whatever. Even better if you post a clear photo of the parts and their connection. The drawing tells us if what you intended to do would actually work. The photo tells us if you built what you intended to build.
