That was my thinking too. Particularly for the Pi 4 and Pi 5 where the other end is micro-HDMI, having a mini-HDMI connector on the monitor end would just make thinks unnecessarily complicated. Full-sized HDMI is pretty standard for a monitor of that size, I would imagine. Maybe the full-sized HDMI connector is slightly cheaper as well, which potentially helps to keep the cost down, and perhaps more physically robust.Full size HDMI to work with most existing cables that exist.
