i'm pretty sure your going to end up starting over, sometimes it's the only way to get a stable install.It wasn't exactly what I wanted, but oh well, thanks anyway
i don't really mess around to much these days because of health reasons, so can't really remember other WM's.
i mainly just stick with raspberry os & there new labwc setup. running the same on my rpi5 desktop setup & my rpi4 laptop setup for simplicity.
tiling WM's were my favorite when i ran resolutions of 1920x1080 and up, but because of poor eyesight i run at 1280x720, not really a decent size for tiling.
