Automation, sensing and robotics • Reading output from Alessi 501 battery monitor

I have an Alessi 501 X-pert battery monitor on my boat. It’s about 20 years old (I know) but it does have an RS type socket and it can be set to output data like voltage etc to an attached computer. I would like to set up an RPI to read the output and broadcast it via wifi to the Internet for remote monitoring.

Does anyone have experience with such a project?
