Hi,
I have a pi4 running 6.6.51+rpt-rpi-v8 #1 SMP PREEMPT Debian 1:6.6.51-1+rpt3 (2024-10-08) aarch64 GNU/Linux
It is connected to 4 USB/Serial devices, each of which uses the ch341 chipset
These generally work fine initially, and are detected as expected:
[ 711.443741] ch341 1-1.4:1.0: ch341-uart converter detected
[ 711.449293] usb 1-1.4: ch341-uart converter now attached to ttyUSB0
[ 716.311955] ch341 1-1.3:1.0: ch341-uart converter detected
[ 716.319447] usb 1-1.3: ch341-uart converter now attached to ttyUSB1
However at some point later, with no trigger I can yet work out, dmesg shows:
[ 742.461276] usb 1-1.4: failed to send control message: -110
[ 743.485345] usb 1-1.4: failed to send control message: -110
[ 744.509331] usb 1-1.4: failed to receive control message: -110
[ 744.509360] ch341-uart ttyUSB0: failed to read modem status: -110
Has anyone come across this issue with ch341 devices? Any ideas as to the possible cause?
I have tried using a hub as well as using a different USB port for each of the 4 devices - so far with no success
Could this be related to:
