yes, that's pretty disappointing.
maybe there will be some versions which come with the official NVMe mounted (then it does not need to be removable).
Mounting the M2 on the top side would also result in some toasty operating temps for the SSD.
Additionally, PoE would make so much sense for the 400/500 class itself, as a teenager opting for a station wagon instead of a motorbike.
My arbitrary interpretation of the
reply is that this board - fully stacked - will probably be reused for industrial purposes, hence no 500+. BummerThose features [PoE and M.2] are present to give us some flexibility to reuse the PCB in other contexts

Thermals appear very good for a fanless design. Bravo!
The screen is an excellent addtion to the production line and quite affordable too (~125€ vs. 145€ for the cheapest reputable 15.6" FHD)
