Thanks for all your replies. I tried BOOT_ORDER=0xf6 and that does work. I kept thinking that it is not because lsblk kept showing /boot/firmware being mounted off of mmcblk0p1 but that is due to /etc/fstab using PARTUUID to reference the partition as opposed to the /dev names. Once I made the change to fstab, that got resolved as well.
Now on to the second part of the question. How do I make sure someone with physical access to the device cannot insert an SD card or a USB MSD and have it recognized by the OS - i.e. appear in lsblk?
