Automation, sensing and robotics • Re: Wiring multiple photoelectric sensors to RPI 4

What is exactly the Part number you bought for replacement?
Looks like to be a PNP version not an NPN.

Where was the voltmeter negative probe, normally the black one, connected to ?
It supposes to be on the GND (0V).

Your hand drawing don't make sense since there is no optical sensor in it!

Maybe try this ,

*** Please do not connect any output to the PI GPIO. 5V will destroy your Pi! ***

I only use the Pi for the 5V power but you could take any 5V source. Be sure that the negative of the multimeter is on 0V.

1 - Without the resistor read the multimeter voltage on both outputs and on both states (Hit and not Hit). Please specify what hit means.

2- Add the resistor to the connection. One side on 5V and the other side with the probe and do the four tests again from #1.

3 - Change the resistor side from 5V to 0V (gnd) and do the tests again from #1.

Please create a table and send us the result.
