While I primarily run X11 as I am unamused by some of the Wayland design choices and limitations, I an not seeing any of your issues when I flip back to Wayland. If the RAM was corrupt, X Windows wouldn’t run either, 4 gig RAM on both Pi400 & Pi 4b, HDMI on new monitors, the power supplies that come with thosePi’s, no peripherals. I don’t follow why very few people are having trouble with Wayland/Wayfire, I have very vanilla flavored installs, that run the usual app’s flawlessly under X.
It might be worth building a totally stock install (no extra software, and no Wayland tweaks and fiddles) and see if that generates the same behaviour. I found a variety of ways to crash or confuse Wayland when I was trying to make it behave in the way I wanted it to, but the stock configuration seems quite stable. If the bone stock config works, then you can add your additions in one at a time until you find the trigger. If the bone stock install is unstable, then you can work through all the hardware bits to validate those (cables, power supply, etc). Also monitor, mouse and keyboard are peripherals and can cause stability issues.
