We (German Raspberry Pi approved Reseller pi3g
) just released a new version of PiCockpit, our web-based solution to remotely manage & use Raspberry Pis. It has two cool new features:
1) A web file editor with built-in "RaspiGPT" functionality to explain files and generate changes / new scripts etc on your Pis (read more about the PiCockpit File Editor in this blog post)
I'll post more about this in a little while, while we're still fixing some minor usability issues with it.
2) a web terminal allowing you to get terminal access to your Raspberry Pis from - anywhere! Anywhere there is an Internet connection, that is. Your Raspberry Pi could be literally on the other side of the world, while you're enjoying a trip to the beach in some nice destination. (Try Colombia, Cartagena is beautiful!)
No dealing with firewalls to open ports, no need to install (and pay for) extra software / services which forward ports, etc.
You can also open multiple terminals in tabs, I'll post another screenshot of this.
Both are free to use - in free as free beer. For up to 5 Pis.
The secret sauce is using WebRTC technology to transport the Terminal session securely between the Pi and your browser. It's the same technology used to do video conferencing on Google Meet, Teams, etc.
Looking forward to your feedback, bug reports and also feature suggestions!
Btw - one of the other features is streaming one or multiple cameras attached to your Pi(s). Same as the web terminal - no need to worry about your network setup / forwarding / doing anything - it just works.
Little disclaimer: the video streaming is 30 min per day for free accounts across all Pis - as bandwidth costs money we offer unlimited streaming to Pro users only.
