Indeed. The simplest solution would just be to run an older version. Most of my Pis run Jessie, since that does everything I need and does it predictably.But why go Bookworm not Bullseye on that Pi3?
However, there are theoretical reasons why running the latest and greatest is desirable. For one thing, I need a pretty recent version of Python in order to run one particular app written in Python.
And, yes, I get what I think you are hinting at - that unless you are running a Pi4 or Pi5, and want to mess with Wayland, there's not much point in running Bookworm. That's why I often refer to Bookworm as "Pi5OS".
I could certainly go back to Bullseye. I'd have to find out what version of Python comes with that.
