It very much depends on the router, on some it indicates that it is no longer connected or lost its lease. If it is a wireless connection it may indicate a wireless connection has been made but not established a dhcp connection with the router (eg conflicting IP ranges).
What are your symptoms? If there aren't any problems it is best for your mental health not to enter the world of router idiosyncrasies.
