Having tried at least six different ways of getting external USB cameras to work with my Raspberry Pi 5, I can only conclude the device is incapable of using an external USB webcam. I've tried camera-streamer, mpeg-streamer, ustreamer and others, yet either they won't install correctly, fail to recognise the camera, won't run as a service, etc. My OctoPrint install has been running fine for weeks on the Pi5. I have an old 2mp Trust webcam and a GoPro clone, both of which worked with my old Pi Zero, but neither of which work with the Pi 5. There appears to be no easy way of getting a webcam to stream video with this Raspberry Pi 5. Also there's no documentation online that isn't out of date or just fails to work at one step or another. My buyers remorse is quite large at this point.
