Ok, it’s not late. It’s definitely later than many of us would like it to be (I’m sure ROF staff included).
I certainly understand the desire to avoid off the cuff predictions, but some hint as to what quarter we might optimistically see this would be helpful to some of us trying to plan real world projects and make purchase decisions.
I’ve got a project coming up for which Poe is critical. I’d rather do pu4 with official hat than pi5 if the pi5 hat won’t be available. But I’d much rather center the project on pi5s if possible. I don’t need the hats until q3, but I need to commit to and make pi purchases in the next month or so.
If the hat is likely to be avaialble q3, I can gamble and back fill with splitters as a contingency. OTOH, if that’s unlikely, then I’ll commit to 4s (or some other platform) and move on.
Opacity is the worst choice here. A prediction/plan with reasonable probabilities is far more useful to consumers.
