Thanks. As expected, both the Samsung Pro Plus and the Pro Ultimate crapped out with CQ enabled. I have a fresh installation of Bookworm on each and they both locked up on the OS loading screen with the CPU fan quickly ramping up to high speed.Latest compatibility updates are now in rpi-update firmware. In general, cards that are broken should be less broken - but this doesn't mean more cards will work with CQE.
While A2 support doesn't seem to have been exercised much, it's still somewhat surprising that Samsung's very latest, highest end UHS-I cards haven't reached a usable state. Who knows, maybe there isn't a single Samsung A2 card that lives up to the claimed specifications? I guess these particular cards (Pro Plus/Ultimate) actually reach A2 IOPS levels even without the CQ support, but that's beside the point.
Do you have any appropriate established channels with Samsung where you could raise these issues? I assume Samsung has the ability to provide firmware updates for their SD cards, though I don't know if they've ever actually done so to the public.
