Troubleshooting • Re: How to prevent headless mode in bookworm when no monitor is connected to an R Pi 4?

How does the Raspberry Pi determine whether it should go into headless mode? And how has this changed from RPi 3B+ (Stretch) to RPi4 (Bookworm)?

There's a wire in the HDMI cable for this purpose plus the Pi tries to read the EDID info from the display.

It's also a software change not a hardware one. Newer OS and drivers behave differently to the old ones when no monitor is connected.
